"WALANG IWANAN" - NO ONE GETS LEFT BEHIND

BATCH 6 !

As a young individual it can be understood that I can do no more than a small impact to the society, looking at it in one perspective. However, it does not follow that thou I am young I cannot build up the impact that I will have in the future. One of my colleague in GK Youth said that as much as we want to inflict a big change in this world and even just in our own country, we know that it is impossible to do so easily and directly; but the thing we can offer in building up the impact we want to make is our education. "Yung edukasyon natin ay importante, dahil para sa akin iyan lang din pa ang kaya kong ibigay". Education really is a vital part if you want to make an impact in society, who would regard you if you don't have a degree? who would listen to you if you are unable to relay your unspoken thoughts? and who would dare follow your path if you don't have the means to pursue it?

"Hindi namin sinabi na pag nag-volunteer kayo kailangan niyo ng kalimutan ang mga gusto niyo. Ang pagsali sa GK Youth hindi ibig sabihin na kailangan mong bitawan ang mga pangarap mo"

 "Pero dapat pag sumali ka sa Gawad Kalinga siguraduhin mo na kapag nangarap ka para sa sarili mo kasama ang lahat na mahirap, hindi lang ang pamilya mo"

Siguraduhin mo na kapag ikaw yung pinaka magaling na guro, naturuan mo ang napaka nangangailangan  na estudyante... kung ikaw ay napakagaling na doktor, nagamot mo ang pinaka malalang sakit sa mundo...kung ikaw ay napakamahusay na enhinyero ikaw ang nakapagpatayo sa napakamabisig na bahay.

Kung Edukasyon lang naman ang ating maibibigay natin sa pangkasalukuyang sitwasyon ngayon, dapat nating paghusayan. If Education is the only real thing that we can give in our current situation, we need to excel in it and give it our greatest.

GAWAD KALINGA - "Gawad" meaning "To Give" and "Kalinga" meaning "To Love"

On top of everything is "Love" because how can you expect someone to give and share their Life's work if they don't love the people who benefit from their generosity. That is the bottomline, share the overflowing love that you have to others who need it, and there are many who need it. Everybody has to know that they can make people feel loved if they are generous enough to show it. We are not only talking about money but the spirit of volunteerism, the effort that you give and the time that you invest. TIME is life's most precious commodity and if you are willing to give your time in volunteering, you are sharing the most precious thing in living - TIME.

One of the most important realization I also had was that in any group that tries to give to others or fight for an advocacy, as you volunteer you are making a connection between you and the other volunteers in the community and those whom you help.
